One of my favorite tools as an IT guy, is this DeWalt screwdriver.
Because it’s small, but powerful enough to screw in a 3 inch wood screw, but with the finesse for small computer screws is what I really love about this DeWalt screwdriver.
This little bad boy, is gyroscopic. Now I don’t know if you have used a gyroscopic screwdriver, but this is one of the coolest features. When you go to use the drill, you pull the trigger which is just a button really, but that just turns it on.
How the gyroscopic screwdriver works is you twist it to make it spin the direction you want it to spin and depending on how much you twist is how fast or how much torque it applies and it can do this to a very fine point. It also features a clutch with settings that are easily sensitive for computer screws even fine hard drive or ssd screws but you can even drill this this thing.
It’s become my absolute go to for all of my “normal” jobs. Now it’s not going to replace a full size drill for doing larger jobs, but this will do that 90% of jobs where you just need to put in or pull out some screws or drill 1 or 2 small holes.
When I got my hands on this the first time, it does take a little getting used to twisting it to go, but it becomes very intuitive to use once your brain works it out. So to use it, you’ll normally want to start with the handle being slightly forward of where you think it’ll need to be with most things needing only about a quarter turn for the speed you want. But once I did that little learning curve, I could not see how I lived so long without it!
This is absolutely one tool I could recommend for any IT guy hands down. But I could also recommend this for any person who might not like full size power tools. My wife does not like dealing with a full size drill, but this one is small enough to not be “scary”. Great for putting up curtains to pictures.
It’ll make a great gift or for yourself. It’ll be the best $100 you spend as far as tools go and you will for sure wonder how you ever lived without this wonder tool. I bought the kit below. which comes with the battery charger, battery and carrying bag. The carrying bag is plenty large enough to put a lot of drill accessories in.
